Let's Hit The Backcountry

Hey Utah! It’s finally time to hit the pow. We’re so grateful for winter sports to be open this year, that we wanted to share with you our top 3 favorite places to backcountry ski.

1. MOUNT SUPERIOR

*Recommended for serious adventurers*

For those who’ve skied Snowbird or Alta, you know it’s impossible not to draw an eye on Mount Superior with its stunningly steep, white encased mass that towers 3000 feet above the Little Cottonwood Highway. The skiing here is phenomenal - in fact, it’s skiable on ALL sides!

2. ALTA AND SNOWBIRD

*Best family-friendly adventure location*

If you’re looking for terrain with an abundance of powder and endless acres for backcountry access, you best be heading to Alta and Snowbird ski areas. They’re great next-door neighbors and both have their own exquisite, unique vibes to them.

3. HOGUM FORK

*Great for big mountain skiers*

When looking just west of Snowbird, you can find yourself staring into an abyss of mass peaks, chutes and ridges. Most of the terrain is part of the Lone Peak Wilderness Area (aka Hogum Fork). The area is definitely BIG, steep, and above the treeline. Whichever direction you choose to take off in, there is endless adventure, but be sure to know that you have to earn it!
